Frequently Asked Questions

What are the major changes to the Digital SAT?
The Digital SAT (launched 2024) features a shorter total time (2h 34m vs 3h), adaptive testing modules within each section, and computer-based delivery. Key differences: shorter passages, more specific questions, adaptive difficulty levels within modules. Math includes a calculator and non-calculator sections. Our tutors are fully trained on the Digital SAT format.
Can I retake the SAT if I don’t hit my target score?
Yes, you can take the SAT as many times as you want. Most students retake it 1-2 times. We recommend waiting 4-6 weeks between attempts for focused preparation. Many universities accept your highest single score, though policies vary. Our premium plan includes a free exam fee retake if you miss your target score.
How many times should I take the SAT?
Most competitive applicants take the SAT 1-2 times. Taking it 3+ times shows diminishing returns. Plan your first attempt for junior year, with a potential retake in senior fall. Our diagnostic assessment helps determine if you’re ready for your first attempt or need additional prep time.
Do universities practice “superscoring” for the Digital SAT?
Superscoring means universities combine your best section scores from different test dates to create a higher composite. Some universities superscored the old SAT but are moving away from the practice. Most now consider your highest single sitting score. Always check your target university’s specific policy on their admissions website.
How much time do I need to prepare for the SAT?
Preparation time varies by starting level and target score. Average timeline: 12 weeks (20 hours tutoring) for 150-200 point improvement. A-level/strong students: 6-8 weeks. Average students: 10-14 weeks. Struggling students: 16-20 weeks. Our diagnostic assessment determines your realistic preparation timeframe.
