Who our mentors are
A Your Dream School mentor is a current student or a graduate of the university a family is aiming at. They prepared the same file two, three or five years ago, so they know what an admissions tutor looks for in a personal statement, an interview or an admissions test. That recent, first-hand experience is what separates useful advice from general commentary about studying abroad.
Mentoring is delivered in English and in French, online, around the student’s timetable. Since 2018, our teams have coached more than 1,000 students, and our Google page carries 160+ five-star reviews.
How we select them
- Verified record: every mentor is enrolled at, or has graduated from, the university whose applications they support.
- Teaching interview: we assess how clearly a candidate explains, not only how strong their own results were.
- Live exercise: each candidate marks up a real personal statement and defends the corrections in front of a senior coach.
- Continuous review: family feedback is examined after every admissions cycle, and mentors keep their place on the team on that basis.
What a mentor actually does
The first session sets the frame: subjects, target countries, real level of English, family budget. The shortlist comes next, always split between ambitious choices and safe ones. The mentor then works on the written file, on the required admissions tests, and on the interview where a university runs one. The calendar is fixed at the start and checked at every session.
That calendar is set by the universities, not by us. For 2027 entry, the UCAS deadline is 18:00 UK time on 13 January 2027, and 15 October 2026 for Oxford, Cambridge, medicine, dentistry and veterinary courses (source: UCAS, consulted on 6 September 2026). A file started in November has room for three drafts. A file started in December does not.
Mentor, coach and founder: who does what
The mentor works with the student week to week on the file and the preparation. The admissions coach sets the country and course strategy earlier in the process. The founders, Adam Girsault and Lawrence Myers, sign off the application strategy and follow the most demanding files themselves. Frequently asked questions
Are sessions online?
Yes. The full programme can be delivered online, in English or in French, which is how we work with families across several time zones. Sessions are scheduled around school hours, including evenings and weekends during the submission period.
How much does coaching cost?
Our admissions counselling starts at 3,000 EUR. The exact figure depends on the number of applications, the countries involved and any test preparation added, so each formula is quoted on request after a first conversation.
What guarantee do you offer?
If the student receives no admission from one of the three first-choice universities defined at the start of the coaching, we accompany the re-application. The three universities are written down in the first session so that nothing is open to interpretation later.
When should a student start?
A full year before the deadline for an undergraduate application, so there is time for the English test, the activities and several drafts of the personal statement. For a master degree, twelve months before the target intake is normally enough.
