In a nutshell: The ieGAT (IE Global Admission Test) is IE University’s proprietary admission test. It lasts 90 minutes, is taken online, and assesses verbal, numerical, and logical reasoning. Scores are calculated on a Gaussian curve. There is no official minimum score, but a strong result significantly strengthens your application. Prepare with logic and abstract reasoning tests.
What is the ieGAT?
The ieGAT (IE Global Admission Test) is a standardized test developed by IE University to assess candidates’ cognitive abilities. Unlike the SAT or ACT, the ieGAT is specific to IE University and cannot be used for other universities. It is a mandatory step in the admission process, unless you submit a SAT score (minimum 1200) or ACT score (minimum 24).
Test Format and Structure
The ieGAT consists of three main sections, each assessing a different type of reasoning:
| Section | Content | Approximate Duration | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Verbal Reasoning (12 minutes, 49 tasks). You must have completed at least 25% of your online application before taking it. The test is monitored through an online proctoring system.
Scoring SystemThe ieGAT score is calculated on a Gaussian curve (normal distribution), meaning your result is compared to all other candidates. IE University does not publish an official minimum score, but candidates admitted to the most competitive programs (BBA, International Relations) typically score in the upper quartile. A strong ieGAT score can compensate for a weaker academic record, and vice versa. How to Prepare for the ieGATAlthough there is no official preparation manual for the ieGAT, several strategies can help you achieve an excellent score: Verbal Reasoning
Numerical Reasoning
