Bocconi University is one of Europe’s most competitive universities for economics, finance and management. Every year, thousands of students from across the world compete for a limited number of places. The key differentiator? Mastering the Bocconi admission test. This guide gives you everything you need to prepare strategically.
Which Test Does Bocconi Use?
Since 2023, Bocconi uses the Online Bocconi Test (Test Online CISIA — Economics) for its Bachelor’s programmes (BIG, BIG track, and Economics & Management). The test is administered by CISIA and can be taken at authorised centres across Europe, including France, Spain and other countries.
Test Structure
The Online Bocconi Test consists of 4 sections completed in 90 minutes total:
- Mathematics — 10 questions / 20 minutes
- Logical Reasoning — 10 questions / 20 minutes
- Reading Comprehension — 10 questions / 20 minutes
- English — 30 questions / 15 minutes
Scoring: +1 for correct, −0.25 for incorrect, 0 for unanswered. This penalty system is crucial for your strategy.
Bocconi Scoring and Selection
Bocconi uses your Online Bocconi Test score combined with your secondary school grades (converted to a 100-point scale) to generate a final admission ranking. The weight of the Online Bocconi Test is approximately 50–60% of the total score. In 2025, the minimum score to enter the ranking was around 18/50 on the Online Bocconi Test, but competitive candidates scored above 35/50.
Section-by-Section Strategy
Mathematics
Covers algebra, geometry, functions, probability and statistics. Focus on speed: you have 2 minutes per question. Master the key formulas and practice mental calculation. → Full guide: Bocconi Math — Formulas and Strategies
Logical Reasoning
Verbal reasoning, numerical sequences, logical deduction and syllogisms. Practice eliminating wrong answers quickly rather than solving each problem from scratch. → Full guide: Bocconi Logic — Exercises and Methods
Reading Comprehension
Economic or social science texts, 450–600 words. Read the questions first, then skim the text to locate answers. Time is your enemy in this section.
English
Grammar, vocabulary and comprehension at B2-C1 level. Worth 30 questions — the highest volume. For non-native speakers, this section can be a major score booster. Prepare with Cambridge B2/C1 materials.
