Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the difference between the GRE and GMAT?
GRE is used for most graduate programs including science, engineering, and humanities. GMAT is specifically for business school (MBA). GRE focuses more on vocabulary and reading comprehension; GMAT emphasises business problem-solving. Both are computer-adaptive. Choose based on your target program type.
Can I take the GRE at home (GRE at Home)?
Yes! GRE at Home is available and equally valid as test centre exams. You take it on your own computer with remote proctoring. Requirements: quiet space, reliable internet, valid ID. Most universities accept GRE at Home scores. We prepare students for both formats identically.
How long are GRE scores valid?
GRE scores are valid for 5 years from your test date. Most universities accept scores from the past 5 years. Some competitive PhD programs prefer more recent scores. If you took the test more than 5 years ago, you’ll need to retake it.
Can I retake the GRE if I don’t hit my target score?
Yes! You can retake the GRE as many times as you want, but you must wait 21 days between attempts. Most successful candidates retake it 1-2 times. All scores remain on record, so universities see your attempt history. Our premium plan includes a free exam fee retake if you miss your target.
How much time do I need to prepare for the GRE?
Preparation time depends on your starting level and target score. Average timeline: 12-16 weeks (20 hours tutoring) for 10-15 point improvement. Strong students: 8-10 weeks. Average students: 12-16 weeks. Graduate-level students: 16-20 weeks. Our diagnostic assessment determines your realistic timeframe.
