King’s College London is often the quiet one in conversations about London universities. Applicants talk about LSE, Imperial or UCL, then move on. The 2027 rankings tell a different story: King’s is one of the strongest and most consistent names in the UK, and it is also, by a wide margin, the British university where our students have won the most offers. Here is what this year’s published numbers say, and what they actually change for your UCAS 2027 application.
What the 2027 rankings say
In the QS World University Rankings 2027, published in June 2026, King’s stands 37th in the world and 6th in the UK, placing it in the top 2.5% of universities globally. Looking closer, its academic reputation ranks 44th worldwide and 7th in the UK, and 95% of its graduates are in employment 10 to 15 months after finishing their studies, the 8th best result in the country on that measure. By subject, the QS rankings released in March 2026 put a record 26 King’s subjects in the global top 50, with Nursing 1st in the UK and 2nd in the world, and Dentistry 2nd in the UK and 5th worldwide.
The national league tables confirm the momentum. The Complete University Guide 2027 places King’s 16th out of 130 UK universities. And the Daily Mail University Guide 2027, published on 13 August 2026, puts King’s in the UK top 10 while naming it University of the Year for Social Inclusion, a nod to the genuine diversity of its intake. For the wider picture across London and the UK, our breakdown of the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2027 is the place to start.
Why King’s belongs on your UCAS list
A strong UCAS list is not five versions of the same long shot. King’s offers something precious: a top 10 national university in the heart of London, with entry requirements often one notch below LSE or Imperial for comparable outcomes in many fields. For an ambitious international applicant, it frequently plays the role of the stretch choice that is actually within reach, where Oxbridge and LSE remain bets.
Our own data tells the same story: 110 of our students have been admitted to King’s College London, making it the number one British university in our results. Figures taken from our admissions database, cohorts 2019 to 2025. These are minimums: the 2017-2018 and 2025-2026 cohorts are not yet consolidated.
Entry requirements to know for 2027 entry
King’s publishes its requirements course by course, in A-levels and IB equivalents, and the bar varies significantly between programmes. The English Law and French Law LLB, one of the most popular courses among our candidates, sets the tone for 2027 entry: A*AA including an A in French (the DELF at B2 level can be considered if French was not studied to the required level), or 38 IB points with a 6 in Higher Level French. A contextual offer at AAB exists for eligible applicants.
Crucially, this programme requires the LNAT, and the calendar is unforgiving: the test must be sat between 1 September and 31 December of the application cycle, and the official King’s course page states that applications without an LNAT sat by 31 December will not be considered further. The official LNAT website confirms that King’s, LSE and UCL all require the test by 31 December 2026 for 2027 entry, while most other universities allow until 25 January. If law is on your list, it is not the January UCAS deadline that drives your autumn: it is the LNAT one.
For English language, King’s works with score bands set per course (the LLB sits in Band B, for example): check the exact band on your programme page before booking an IELTS or TOEFL date.
The calendar that matters now
Three dates frame a King’s application for 2027. On 15 October 2026 at 6pm UK time, medicine and dentistry courses close, only days from now. On 31 December 2026, the LNAT window closes if you are applying to law at King’s, UCL or LSE. And 13 January 2027 at 6pm UK time is the UCAS equal consideration deadline for all other courses: applications received by then must be considered equally. Our advice never changes: do not play for time. A file submitted early, with a polished personal statement and solid references, is built calmly in the autumn, not in a holiday rush.
