Applying to emlyon: prepare your application step by step

First identify the admission route that fits your qualification. Build your timeline from its official page, gather the requested documents and prepare the assessments listed in your applicant portal.

Reviewed on 28 September 2026. See our emlyon admissions overview to compare programmes.

1. Confirm your eligibility and route

  • Global BBA: check the route for your school-leaving qualification on the official BBA page.
  • PGE with a French qualification: consult the French qualification admission route, which differs from the entrance examination following preparatory classes.
  • PGE with a foreign qualification: distinguish Direct International Admission from Join a School in France using the official MiM guide.
  • Specialised master’s or MBA: use the exact programme page rather than another course’s conditions.

2. Build a realistic timeline

Record the opening date, application deadline, test dates and deadline for submitting scores. Allow time for translations, certificates and a possible test retake. A 2026 calendar does not automatically apply to the following intake. Some routes may close when places are filled.

3. Gather the required documents

Prepare a working folder with your identification, qualifications, transcripts, enrolment certificate and CV. Add only the tests, motivation statements or recommendations requested or accepted by your route. Check permitted languages, certified translations and file formats in the official instructions; these are not identical across applications.

4. Prepare tests and assessments

Check the name and version of each accepted test, validity requirements and possible exemptions. Complete a diagnostic before planning your preparation. For digital assessments, test your equipment and use the available familiarisation exercises. Develop your own examples and reasons for applying instead of memorising generic answers.

5. Review and track your application

Before submitting, check dates, programme names, attachments and your referees’ contact details. Keep a copy of the application and submission confirmation. Monitor your applicant portal and email for requests for further information.

6. Read your offer conditions

If you receive an offer, distinguish admission, outstanding conditions and completed enrolment. Check the reply deadline, deposit arrangements and refund terms before paying. Build a budget for tuition, accommodation and mobility using the figures for your intake.
