ieGAT 2026: the complete prep guide for IE University
In short: The ieGAT (IE Global Admission Test) is IE University’s own admission test. It lasts 90 minutes, is taken online and assesses verbal, numerical and logical reasoning. Scores are calculated on a bell curve. There is no official minimum score, but a good result significantly strengthens your application. Prepare with logic and abstract reasoning tests.
What is the ieGAT?
The ieGAT (IE Global Admission Test) is a standardized test developed by IE University to assess applicants’ cognitive abilities. Unlike the SAT or the ACT, the ieGAT is specific to IE University and cannot be used for other universities. It is a mandatory step in the admissions process, unless you submit an SAT score (minimum 1200) or an ACT score (minimum 24).
Test format and structure
The ieGAT consists of three main sections, each assessing a different type of reasoning:
| Section | Content | Approximate duration |
|---|---|---|
| Verbal reasoning | Reading comprehension, vocabulary, verbal analogies | 30 minutes |
| Numerical reasoning | Data interpretation, calculations, number series | 30 minutes |
| Logical reasoning | Abstract sequences, matrices, visual patterns | 30 minutes |
The test lasts 90 minutes in total and is taken entirely online from your computer. You must have completed at least 25% of your online application before you can take it. The test is monitored by an online proctoring system.
Scoring system
ieGAT scores are calculated on a bell curve (normal distribution), which means your result is compared with those of all other applicants. IE University does not publish an official minimum score, but applicants admitted to the most competitive programs (BBA, International Relations) usually score in the top quartile. A strong ieGAT score can make up for a weaker academic record, and vice versa.
How to prepare for the ieGAT
Although there is no official prep guide for the ieGAT, several strategies can help you achieve an excellent score:
