A strong application starts with following the correct instructions. This checklist was revised in September 2026 to remove advice that confused Bocconi’s standard selection with essay-based admissions systems.
1. Using the wrong selection criteria
In the standard procedure, Bocconi assesses test results and school grades; motivational letters, CVs and recommendations are not assessed. Check the official admissions page, including separate routes for special programmes.
2. Preparing from an outdated guide
Keep the official instructions for your intake beside your application checklist. An old article, a friend’s experience or a practice score expressed on a different scale should not replace those instructions. Our updated test guide links to the current format and rules.
3. Confusing test registration with an application plan
Track test preparation, document collection and application submission as separate tasks. Write down what you need to complete, where you will complete it and the relevant deadline. Keep confirmation messages in a folder you can find easily.
4. Choosing a programme only for its name
Read the actual curriculum and compare it with your interests and academic preparation. Consider the language, subjects, costs and possible next steps. Rank choices you would genuinely be willing to study.
5. Leaving document checks until the end
Review names, dates, academic records and uploaded files carefully. Make sure each document is legible and follows the current instructions. Resolve unclear requirements with the university before the deadline.
6. Assuming funding is automatic
Plan the full cost of your studies and examine funding conditions separately. Do not treat an admission offer, a practice score or an estimate from an unofficial guide as a scholarship award.
Before you submit
- Confirm your programme, applicant category and intake.
- Use the current official requirements for tests and qualifications.
- Check that every required document is complete and accurate.
- Review your programme preferences and realistic budget.
- Allow time to resolve a technical or administrative question.
- Keep a copy of the final application and submission confirmation.
