Bocconi Admissions: What Actually Matters

Unlike most competitive universities, Bocconi’s admission process is straightforward and transparent. Your application is evaluated on exactly two criteria:

CriterionWeightDetails
Selection test score55%Online Bocconi Test, SAT, or ACT (undergraduate). LSAT for Law programs. GMAT or GRE for Master’s programs.
High school GPA45%Grades from your 3rd-last and 2nd-last year of secondary school. Physical education, behavior, and religion grades are excluded.

There are no interviews, no essays, no recommendation letters, and no extracurricular activities considered. This makes Bocconi’s process more merit-based and quantifiable than most top universities : and it means your preparation should focus entirely on test performance and understanding how your GPA will be calculated.

Application Sessions for AY 2026-27

There are three admission sessions. Apply as early as possible : places fill rapidly.

SessionApplication PeriodResults% of places
Early Session3, 26 September 202512 November 2025~50%
Winter Session28 November 2025, 23 January 202611 March 2026~40-45%
Spring Session27 March : 13 April 2026End of May 2026~5-10%

Update, 5 September 2026: for a.y. 2027-28 Bocconi publishes an Early session (2 to 29 September 2026) and a Winter session (25 November 2026 to 26 January 2027); see the key facts above (source: Università Bocconi, consulted 5 September 2026).

The Spring session is not a fallback safety net : it has very few spots remaining by that point. If you are not admitted in the Early or Winter session, your chances in Spring are significantly lower. Plan your test timeline accordingly.

Test Deadlines You Must Know

You must complete the Online Bocconi Test and receive your score before submitting your application. The test must be taken at least two days before the application deadline. Key dates:

SessionLast day to book testLast day to take testApplication deadline
Winter19 January 202621 January 202623 January 2026
Spring7 April 20269 April 202613 April 2026

Test slots near deadlines fill up very fast. Do not wait until the last week to book : preferred dates are often fully booked weeks in advance.

The Apply2B Application Portal: Step by Step

All applications are submitted through Bocconi’s Apply2B online portal. Here is what to expect:

  1. Create your Apply2B account. Use your personal email. Note: creating an account does not start your application or incur any fees.
  2. Start your application during an open session window. You can save and return to a draft before submitting.
  3. Enter your personal information : name, nationality, date of birth, contact details.
  4. Select up to 4 program preferences. Rank them in order of preference. Your preferences are used if you qualify but your first choice is full.
  5. Enter your high school GPA. You will be asked for your grades from 3rd-last and 2nd-last year (e.g., for a student graduating in 2026: grades from academic years 2023-24 and 2024-25). Physical education, behavior, and religion are excluded from the calculation.
  6. Link your test score. If you have multiple scores (e.g., Bocconi test + SAT), enter all of them. The portal will automatically use your highest score.
  7. Pay the €100 application fee. This is non-refundable and is per application, not per session. You can apply to multiple sessions by paying the fee each time.
  8. Submit. You cannot edit your application after submission.

Understanding Your GPA Conversion

Bocconi converts your high school grades to a standardized scale for comparison. Key points about the GPA calculation:

  • Only grades from your 3rd-last and 2nd-last year of secondary school are used (not final year grades, which are often not yet available at application time)
  • Physical education, behavior/conduct, and religious studies grades are excluded from the GPA calculation
  • If your school uses a grading system different from the Italian scale, Bocconi applies a conversion formula
  • You are responsible for accurately entering your grades. Bocconi will request official transcripts for admitted students.

Which Test Score to Submit

Bocconi accepts multiple test types for undergraduate admission:

TestApplicable programsNotes
Online Bocconi Test (standard)All undergraduate programs4 sections, 50 questions, 75 min. Up to 4 attempts.
Online Bocconi Test : LawLaw programs only5 sections including Verbal Reasoning. Can only be used for Law.
SATAll undergraduate programsStandard SAT score. Competitive scores: 1400+.
ACTAll undergraduate programsStandard ACT composite. Bocconi converts to a comparable scale.
LSATLaw programs onlyAlso accepted as an alternative to the Law-specific Bocconi test.

If you have both a Bocconi test score and an SAT score, enter both in Apply2B. The system automatically selects your highest score for the admission calculation.

After You Apply: What Happens Next

After submitting your application, Bocconi will:

  1. Confirm receipt of your application by email
  2. Process applications and release results on the published results date
  3. Notify admitted students by email with instructions for enrollment
  4. Admitted students must confirm their enrollment by the stated deadline and pay an enrollment deposit
  5. Request official transcript documents from admitted students (typically after acceptance)

If you are not admitted in one session, you may apply again in the next open session by paying a new €100 application fee and, importantly, by retaking the test to improve your score if possible.

How the Bocconi My Application portal works

Every Bocconi application goes through the university’s My Application portal. You create an account, complete the online application form, upload your documents (transcripts, test scores, CV), pay the application fee, and then track your admission decision directly in the portal for each selection round. Keep your login details : the same portal is used for enrollment steps after you are admitted.

Frequently asked questions

What are the Bocconi application deadlines for 2027-28?

Bocconi publishes two sessions for a.y. 2027-28: the Early session from 2 to 29 September 2026 (3:00 pm Italian time) with results in mid-November 2026, and the Winter session from 25 November 2026 to 26 January 2027 with results in mid-March 2027 (source: Università Bocconi, consulted 5 September 2026). Most places are allocated in these two sessions.

What documents do I need for my Bocconi application?

A valid online Bocconi test score (or SAT, ACT, or LSAT for Law), the grades of your third-last and second-last school years entered in the portal, a valid ID and the application fee. No recommendation letter, motivation letter or CV is required. Admitted students later upload official transcripts (source: Università Bocconi, consulted 5 September 2026).

How is the Bocconi admission decision made?

Two criteria only: the selection test counts for 55% and the GPA of the third-last and second-last school years for 45%. Physical education, conduct and religion grades are excluded. If you upload both a Bocconi test and an SAT score, the system keeps the highest (source: Università Bocconi, consulted 5 September 2026). There is no interview.

When can I take the online Bocconi test for 2027-28?

Test booking runs from 13 July 2026 to 19 January 2027. The last test date is 24 September 2026 for the Early session and 21 January 2027 for the Winter session, so the score arrives before the 29 September and 26 January application deadlines (source: Università Bocconi, consulted 5 September 2026). Several attempts are allowed; the best score is used.

How much does Bocconi cost per year?

For a.y. 2026-27, tuition and fees for first-year bachelor and law students are 17,000 EUR per year, paid in three instalments. The amount for a.y. 2027-28 was still marked as to be defined on 5 September 2026. Partial waivers of 20%, 40%, 60% and 80% exist based on family income (source: Università Bocconi, consulted 5 September 2026).
