In a nutshell: IE University accepts applications on a rolling basis through its online portal. You need to submit your transcripts, CV, personal statement, two recommendation letters, take the ieGAT test (or SAT/ACT), complete an online assessment, and pass a personal interview. Apply as early as possible since spots are limited.
Timeline and Key Dates
IE University operates on rolling admissions: there is no rolling admissions — no fixed deadline, but spots are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. For a September 2026 intake, here are the recommended milestones:
| Period | Recommended Action |
|---|---|
| September – December 2025 | Prepare your application, take the English test, start your personal statement |
| January – March 2026 | Submit your online application, take the ieGAT |
| March – May 2026 | Complete the online assessment and interview |
| May – July 2026 | Last chance — very limited spots at this stage |
Step 1: Prepare Your Application
Before starting your online application, gather all required documents. A complete and polished application significantly increases your chances of admission. Required documents include:
- High school transcripts — last 3 years, translated into English if necessary
- One-page CV — highlighting extracurricular activities, leadership, and achievements
- Personal statement — a motivation essay explaining why IE University and your chosen program
- Two recommendation letters — ideally from a teacher and a mentor/employer
- English proficiency test — TOEFL (min. 90), IELTS (min. 6.5), Cambridge (min. B2 First), or Duolingo (min. 110)
- Passport copy and recent ID photo
- Portfolio — only for Design and Architecture programs
Step 2: Online Application
Create an account on IE University’s admission portal (apply.ie.edu). Fill in all sections carefully: personal information, academic background, program choice, and preferred campus. You can save your application and return to it later. The application fee is approximately €125 and is non-refundable.
Step 3: ieGAT Test or SAT/ACT
The ieGAT is IE University’s proprietary admission test. It is taken online, lasts 90 minutes, and assesses verbal, numerical, and logical reasoning. You must have completed at least 25% of your application before taking it. Alternatively, IE accepts the SAT (minimum 1200) or ACT (minimum 24). For more details on ieGAT preparation, see our complete IE University guide.
Step 4: Online Assessment
This step consists of a video and written assessment completed online. You will answer questions demonstrating your critical thinking, communication skills, and motivation. This is your chance to show your personality beyond your academic record. Prepare by practicing structured responses to open-ended questions.
Step 5: Personal Interview
If your profile is shortlisted, the Admissions Committee invites you to a personal interview (in person or via video call). The interview lasts about 30 minutes and covers your background, motivations, career goals, and understanding of your chosen program. Be authentic, well-informed about IE University, and ready to explain why you are a strong candidate.
Strategic Tips to Maximize Your Chances
- Apply early — the most popular programs (BBA, International Relations) fill up quickly
- Polish your personal statement — show your personality, not just your grades
- Prepare for the ieGAT seriously — practice with logical reasoning tests
- Apply for scholarships at the same time — funds are limited and allocated on a rolling basis
