France has just published the official exam calendar for the 2027 baccalauréat. For a family whose child is aiming at a university abroad, these dates are not only about revision schedules: they set the moment results are released, and therefore the real timeline of your international applications. Here is what the calendar changes, and how to line it up with UCAS, business schools and universities outside France.
The official bac 2027 dates
The note published in the Bulletin officiel schedules the written exams of the 2027 session across a single week in June, in the morning. For students in their final year (2027 bac candidates):
- Philosophy: Monday 14 June 2027, morning.
- Written specialty exams: Wednesday 16 to Friday 18 June 2027, mornings.
- Grand oral: from Monday 21 June through 2 July 2027.
The anticipated exams, sat by students in the year below (première), fall in the same week: anticipated French on Tuesday 15 June 2027, and the anticipated mathematics exam on Monday 21 June 2027. First-round results are released from Tuesday 6 July 2027, with a make-up session held in September.
What is new: an anticipated mathematics exam
The most notable change in this reform is a new anticipated mathematics exam, whose first session counts towards the 2027 baccalauréat. It applies to every student in première, in both the general and technological tracks. It is a two-hour written paper, no calculator allowed, with a coefficient of 2, split into a first part on core techniques and a second part of two or three exercises. The syllabus assessed depends on the track: specialty mathematics, the mathematics embedded in general science teaching, or the common technological programme.
For an internationally minded profile, this exam has a concrete benefit: from the end of première, it produces a national, standardised mathematics grade. That is a useful signal when a UK university or a business school assesses your quantitative level, especially for selective courses in economics, engineering or finance, which expect specific grades depending on the subject.
Why July is the date that matters abroad
A French applicant to the UK does not apply with final results: they apply through UCAS with predicted grades set by their school, well before the exams. Universities reply with conditional offers, meaning offers tied to achieving certain bac grades. Those conditions are only met when results come out, in early July. With the 2027 baccalauréat proclaimed from 6 July, that is when your place is confirmed, right in the middle of Clearing and adjustment.
In practice, two deadlines frame a UK applicant’s year for 2027 entry: 15 October 2026 at 18:00 (UK time) for Oxford, Cambridge, medicine, dentistry and veterinary courses, then 13 January 2027 at 18:00 for the large majority of other courses. Between the two, the application is built in the autumn, on the strength of première and the first term of the final year, long before the June exams.
What it means for your strategy
The gap between when you apply (the autumn) and when the bac lands (July) has three practical consequences. First, the quality of the première report and continuous-assessment marks weighs heavily, because they are what predicted grades are built on: a strong record early beats a scramble in June. Second, the new anticipated mathematics grade becomes a measurable asset to highlight from première onwards. Third, you have to plan for July logistics: a conditional place abroad is confirmed in the days following results, often alongside French Parcoursup responses, which means priorities need to be settled in advance. If a grade falls short of a condition, the window to negotiate, use Clearing or pivot to a second choice is short and opens the very week results are published, so knowing in advance which offer you would fight for, and which you would let go, is what turns a stressful July into a decision you have already made.
This calendar covers the bac alone. It has to fit with two other timelines we follow closely: UCAS for the UK and Parcoursup in France, along with the specific rounds run by business schools and universities in the Netherlands or Canada. Making them all hold together, so that one deadline does not cost you another, is precisely the work of proper guidance.

The 2027 session confirms a simple rule: for international applications, the year is decided in the autumn, not in June. The bac exams remain decisive for meeting offer conditions, but the application itself is prepared and submitted months earlier. Anticipating that gap, polishing the première record and making the most of the new mathematics exam are the three levers of a strong application. A well-timed application also rests on a personal statement prepared well ahead.
